Liver Diseases Treatment

Since 1994 at UNIQUE CELL TREATMENT CLINIC we have developed and introduced preparations containing fetal stem cells for treatment of liver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis. In patients with such abnormalities fetal stem cells are administered intravenously, although they can also be implanted via laparoscopy directly into liver parenchyma or its ligamentous apparatus. Fetal stem cells form new cell pools capable of enduring and functioning for a long time. Meanwhile, the liver tissue is restored, and liver’s detoxification and protein-formation functions improve.
 

​Patients with liver cirrhosis undergo laparoscopy during which a fetal stem cell suspension is administered into liver parenchyma. Layers of the falciform ligament of the liver are separated with the small amount of air (5–10 ml). Stem cells of 5–12 weeks are administered into the cavities formed (the number of cells – not less than 5x106/ml) in 4–6 depots of total volume of 1–5 ml. In 8–12 hours after implantation of fetal stem cells, the syndrome of early post-transplantation improvement as well as the syndrome of psycho-functional changes (decrease in intensity of somatic depression, improvement of the emotional status, cognition, and memory) are observed in all cases. Regardless of the way of administration, on the 3rd–5th day after the transplantation, reduction in amount of free liquid in abdominal cavity is noted.

In 35% of patients after the implantation no free liquid is found for 3–6 months, and no diuretic therapy is required. In 65% of patients the amount of liquid persists at the level of 100–300 ml, which requires minor diuretic therapy. In all the patients the blood chemistry parameters that characterize liver function return to normal level, bilirubin metabolism restores, blood transaminases levels decrease. Thrombocytes count restores, blood aldosterone level goes down to normal one. The risk of cirrhosis complications development (such as portal hypertension and bleedings) drops. The immunity parameters become normal.

In the complex treatment, application of fetal stem cell therapy with traditional hepatoprotective therapy allows to improve the patient’s life quality significantly and to provide remission.
